There's something freeing about preaching to an empty church. No one is there to be entertained, to silently judge you or to fall quietly asleep in the corner. You're allowed to say what you want.
That's the sort of freedom we encourage our Empty Church speakers to use to their advantage as they take five minutes and give us the sermon they would preach if it was their very last one.
We're looking for honesty, we're looking for clarity and we're looking for something that gives us a glimpse of what God is really like.
Here Mark Wroe from Holy Trinity Jesmond, talks about the beautiful madness that is God living among us. John 1 is his text of choice.
We don't want to say too much more about it but what we will say is that the first ever Empty Church Sermon is a must watch.
Here's the Bible verses in case you need them...
John 1: 1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 1: 14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
